What is Kahuna bodywork?

Massage-Joan-2

Kahuna bodywork originated in the South Pacific and was used during Rites of Passage as a tranformational massage and healing system. It is also known as Hawaiian Temple Style Massage and Lom Lomi. This beautiful and unique form of bodywork provides a holistic approach to healing.

During a treatment, the practitioner moves around the massage table with flowing hula and tai chi style movements and uses their hands, forearms and elbows to massage the client. Music is played and the practitioner tunes the flow of the massage to harmonise the client’s physical and emotional needs.

This focused attention and open-hearted attitude of love and compassion by your therapist is a key difference of the Kahuna style, the essence of the ‘aloha’ spirit sacred to the people of Hawaii.

What are the benefits?

A kahuna treatment can help you to

  • Feel a sense of peace and deep relaxation
  • Release deep-seated neuromuscular tension and increases energy flow.
  • Treat the lymphatic, immune, circulatory, respiratory and digestive systems to promote greater health and fitness
  • Heal injuries faster and more completely.

Emotionally Kahuna can assist you to:

  • Release negative emotions and memories
  • Gain clarity and confidence, open-heartedness and trust.
  • Build self awareness self acceptance and self love.

During the massage it helps to focus your attention on your breath. Each inhalation offers a chance to draw fresh energy and inspiration into the body-mind. Each exhalation an opportunity to dissolve tension, to let go of anything that limits you and to deepen your experience of relaxation.
