Can something that tastes so indulgent really be good for you too?
Well, take note: The British Medical Journal lists the coca plant as the number one food source on the planet. Seriously! It contains more vitamins, minerals, and enzymes than any other plant. It includes calcium, phosphorous, potassium, iron, sodium, carbohydrates, proteins, fats, thiamine, vitamin A, magnesium, riboflavin, zinc, copper and chromium.
Chocolate promotes the release of endorphins and the stimulant phenylethylamine (PEA) which mimics feelings of being in love. (What every woman already knows!) It also helps to reduce heart disease.
But beware – cheap compound chocolate is made with vegetable fat and has lots of sugar to hide the bad taste. Real chocolate contains cocoa fats and cocoa butter – similar to avocado fats and is very good for you.
So here’s your excuse to choose a good-quality, dark chocolate (without the milk and cream fillings) and do your metabolism a favour. Better still get organic or premium chocolate – it’s said to contain free radicals, anti-cancer agents and many other goodies.
Enjoy!
